Dr. Kristie J. Bennett is an Atlanta optometrist specializing in primary eyecare, treatment and management of eye diseases and contact lenses. In 2010, Dr. Bennett decided to open up Highland Eye Boutique to offer eyecare to her intown Atlanta neighbors based on how she envisions eyecare should be provided — first-class eyecare, personalized service and distinctive styles of eyeglasses.
Dr. Bennett grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and received her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana in 2000. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois in 2004, where she was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society.
After graduating from optometry school, the optometrist completed a postdoctoral residency at the Cincinnati Eye Institute in Cincinnati, Ohio, focusing on the treatment and management of ocular diseases and comanagement of ocular surgeries under some of the most respected ophthalmologists in the world. Afterwards she practiced at Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston in Massachusetts before moving to Atlanta in 2007 and joined Atlanta Ophthalmology Associates, where she worked until spring 2011 with some of the leading ophthalmologists in the country.
Dr. Bennett is certified in the Treatment and Management of Ocular Diseases and is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Georgia Optometric Association. She has contributed her contact lens knowledge in the book Primary Care Medicine, sixth edition, and has been recognized for her excellence in patient care through awards by her peers.
In her free time, Dr. Bennett and her husband, Rob, enjoy spending time with their English Bulldog, Charlie, enjoying a glass of wine and listening to music in their Morningside/Virginia Highland home.
